Kia ora,

My name is Jane and I have been nesting in Wanaka’s beautiful mountain playground now for 20 years. I live here with my husband and two very amidst-life children. My days are filled embracing the outdoors, biking, hiking, snowboarding, free-diving, practicing yoga and mediation, and spending time with other mountain and ocean enthusiasts.

Believing not all knowledge is taught in one school, I bring a diverse approach to my work, drawing from various bodywork modalities including Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Joint Mobilisation Techniques and stretching, to address my clients particular needs. I assess for, and work with, postural distortions that we acquire from moving throughout our days and stepping out of alignment with ourselves. Together we will create effective long-term positive change in the body.

Fascia is a layer of connective tissue that connects and encapsulates everything in the body; our bones, blood vessels, nerves, organs and musculature, permeating the entire body right down to a cellular level. The fascia covering the muscular system is known as myofascia. It provides the framework for our body and is often referred to as the organ of form and structure. Fascia can form adhesions and distortions caused by injury, stress, trauma, surgery, scarring, inflammation, repetitive motions, and prolonged positioning. Myofascial Release (MFR) is a highly effective form of soft tissue manipulation that releases such restrictions and tensions. By lengthening and stretching tight and restricted myofascia, muscles return to their original shape, length and functioning capability. Because it is one continuous fascial web, release in one area can produce a ripple effect in other parts of the body.

I believe in the body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal itself. Through effective therapeutic touch, and deep listening, I respond to the needs of the body through an innate sensitivity and sympathy with it. When received in an informed and meaningful way, massage engages the parasympathetic branch of the nervous system, responsible for the body's rest and digest response, helping to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and stress, where true healing takes place.

It is an honour and privilege to work as a hands-on therapist sharing my souls work and purpose. My treatments will ensure your safety, comfort, and privacy. Letting ourselves take advantage of the healing nature of touch creates space, renewed connection and embodiment, where we can truly come home to our body to heal.
